Welcome

Thank you for visiting North High School’s 2008 WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) Website!  The stakeholders of North High are undergoing our WASC visitation from Sunday February 24th through Wednesday February 27th of 2008.  This is a time where a visiting committee made up of seven administrators, teachers, and other staff from districts all over the state will be coming to interview our students, observe our teachers, witness three days of normal school operation, and talk to community members from NHS.  This visit is intended to make sure that what we have reported in our self-study book is accurate and that the quality of education we offer at North is held to a high standard.

WASC is an accreditation process that typically has happened every 6 years (with a three year mid-term visit to make sure we are on the right track) at North High School, and we are hoping to earn another 6-year accreditation with this visit.  Our staff, students, community members and parents have prepared well for this intensive observation and have created an action plan that we believe will move NHS forward and guide us through the next six years.  Further, we hope that this action plan will help us to keep our reputation as a school that prepares our students well for the future and gives them many options upon graduation.

This site will provide you with access to the 2008 WASC Self-Study Book that was written by the North High Faculty, Students, and Parents.  On this site you will also find evidence to back up many of the statements that were made by our focus groups within chapter four of our self-study book. Our action plan is also attached to the self study (and this website) and will explain the specific steps that our site anticipates taking within the next six years to keep our students competitive on a global playing field and prepared to move on to any post-graduation endeavors they wish to pursue.

Wish us luck on our visit and feel free to explore “What’s Happening In Saxonville!”

Sincerely,

Dr. Grant Litfin
Principal
